My Favorite Oligarch

I’m not a fan of oligarchy because oligarchies typically are made up of oligarchs.

Another negative is that they tend to behave like...oligarchs. They collude with one another to protect their collective financial and market interests, at the expense of everyone else.

Plus, oligarchs get special treatment from the best politicians that money can buy...

They add obstacles so new competitors find it difficult to compete against them in the market. Worse, oligarchy can turn into a de facto monopoly.

Look at Jack Dorsey and Mark Zuckerberg...

Their high-tech social media companies are really near absolute monopolies, because there has been no real option that competes with either Twitter or Facebook that aren’t owned by either. They largely control what can and cannot be said over most of the internet.

Technofascism is so underrated.

As a result, both of these virtual dictators – and you can add the fascist cats at Google to that mix – found themselves able to control the political speech and censor it in an election that favored their guy, Joe Biden.

And we all know how that went... hell, we’re living it.

Jack and Mark also censored speech and the free exchange of ideas during the COVID 19 pandemic...and they loved it.

Any talk of remedies, unnecessary lockdowns and their economic disaster, religious meetings, and many other topics protected by our Constitution, were censored by these tyrannical little boy-men.

The facts are that people – Americans – were de-platformed, degraded, demonetized and demonized by Jack Dorsey and Mark Zuckerberg, and they’re okay with that. But hey, that’s what real demons do, right? And don’t think that’s hyperbole. These guys are evil.

Now, think of Russia and its oligarchs. Russian oligarchs help keep Putin in power... and Putin helps them stay alive and well ... by not killing them. Oligarchs and dictatorship tend to go iron fist-in-hand – or vax-in-hand – as the case may be.

Enter Elon Musk, oligarch extraordinaire, and his on-and-off acquisition plans for Twitter. Am I in favor of exchanging one oligarch/monopolist for another? Do we want one jut guy controlling the power of Twitter?  Of course not.

But when radical leftists run every major technology, entertainment, educational, political and financial institution in the country, well, “any port in a storm” is my response. Until we can find ways to dilute that power, keep the free flow of ideas and speech going, the Musk option is our only option.

Elon has suddenly become my very favorite oligarch. Not a huge fan, but everything’s relative. So, stay healthy, Elon, keep the free speech flowing and don’t let the bastards grind you down.

By the way, I hear Netflix is a steal right now. Same with Facebook, Disney and CNN.
