The Resurrection: The Way, the Truth & the Life

Good Friday was the day our wretched selves were saved

Saved for what? To live forever. Absolution was the first offer, eternal life is the second.

That’s why today is the very best day for the world in all of human history.

On this day, God Himself showed us His plan to raise us up to become more than we are today, despite our fallen state and dreadful fate of being merely human in all our imperfection.

The low nature in us all condemns us to a dread future of death. Yes, all of us are destined for the grave. To deny that is to deny reality.

But as Jesus Christ showed us on this day in Jerusalem nearly 2,000 years ago, the grave is no longer our human destiny. Rather, new heavens, a new Earth and a new, perfect incarnation is our destiny.

The Lord our God showed us His power and grace and the Way to our new lives, our new selves, sanctified by His sacrifice, so that we may be undefeated by death, unbroken by sorrow and grief, and gain eternal life, if we so choose.

 On that day, men and women who once feared persecution, welcomed it, knowing the that He who said, “I Am the Truth, the Life, and the Resurrection,” truly delivered on His promise.

And the world was never the same.

What’s more, the promise of the Resurrection has yet to be fulfilled.

But one day soon, it will be.
